Are your products vegan? Yes — BALANCE is Fijn's vegan-friendly blend, a functional cacao mushroom blend made entirely from plant-based ingredients with no animal-derived ingredients of any kind. Our other blends — PURE, BLISS, and MAXIMIZE — are not vegan, as they contain grass-fed bovine collagen and, in the case of MAXIMIZE, whole milk bovine colostrum sourced from first milking. Are Fijn products gluten-free, dairy-free, and non-GMO? Yes. PURE, BALANCE, and BLISS are all gluten free, dairy-free, and non-GMO. BLISS is the only Fijn blend that contains added sugar, sweetened with organic coconut palm sugar rather than refined sugar or artificial sweeteners. MAXIMIZE is gluten free and non-GMO, but contains whole milk bovine colostrum — a dairy-derived ingredient — and is not suitable for those with a dairy allergy or sensitivity.
Do you use sugar or artificial sweeteners? Never. No artificial sweeteners, no refined sugar, and no compromise — ever. Our Story
Who started Fijn, and why? Fijn began the way the best things do — in a kitchen, with a family, and a problem worth solving.
Annie, Fijn's founder, has always been health-conscious. But when she started looking closely at what was actually in traditional cocoa drinks — mountains of sugar, ingredients she couldn't pronounce — she wasn't satisfied. The "healthier" alternatives weren't much better. They were bland, flat, and missing the whole point of cocoa: that deep, rich, comforting experience that makes you stop and savor.
So Annie did what any determined mother of eight would do. She made her own.
For the next several months, her kids and a growing army of grandchildren were subjected to dozens of cups thrust into their hands with an enthusiastic "Here! Try this!" Her family became her test kitchen, her research team, and her biggest fans. Together they dove deep — learning how cocoa differs region to region, how processing affects taste and nutrition, how fat content changes solubility, and how the right functional ingredients could make something truly nourishing without sacrificing a single drop of indulgence.
